Diamond Tools

17) Sintering by infiltration of loose mixture of powders - An efficient method for complex shape diamond drilling tool fabrication

by Radu L. Orban
Technical University of Cluj-Napoca, Romania

Abstract: In this paper are analyzed the main steps of the sintering by infiltration of loose mixture of powders, including diamond particles of an appropriate size and proportion, in order to highlight the benefits and advantages of this relatively recently introduced method in the fabrication of diamond drilling tools, and to expand its applications based on the scientific knowledge of these important aspects.

24) Practical guide to free sintering in the production of diamond beads
(Chapter 1)

by O. Cai

INTRODUCTION
I have successfully surpassed eighty years of age and, for over half a century, I have been involved in the production of diamond tools. Initially, I served as a manager and technical director at a major Italian company and, subsequently, I have worked as a technical consultant in this specific field, both in Italy and abroad. For more than thirty years, I have focused on diamond wire, addressing both its production and its practical applications in various fields. Since free sintering technology has become increasingly widespread in the diamond tool industry and considering that I have used it almost continuously since the mid-1960s, I thought it would be useful to write this brief and modest theoretical-practical manual on the subject. The success of this production technique is closely linked to the development of beads for diamond wires, which are increasingly being used on multi-wire machines for cutting natural stones, particularly granite. With this manual, far from intending to give lessons, I aim to share the knowledge I have acquired over the years with those who are about to start producing diamond beads using free sintering, as well as with those who are already doing so but appreciate a comparative approach. To ensure the content is understandable, all topics are deliberately addressed in simple language, avoiding, as much as possible, complicated formulas and overly complex scientific concepts. For any further clarification, the author is always available.

58) U-FAST technology. New materials for industry

by D. Karpowicz, K. Jach, M. Rosinski
GeniCore Sp. z o.o., Poland

Abstract: Upgraded field assisted sintering technology become a good alternative for most demanding applications. During the presentation, most recent examples of materials made with U-FAST technology will be presented and solutions which allows to compete with other technologies when it comes for cost-effectiveness which, in most cases, was the biggest disadvantage for U-FAST technology.
